Italian’s just the job

It’s not often I visit upmarket restaurants but as it was my birthday, my beautiful and successful sister managed to smuggle me into Il Forno on Duke Street.

Class? When I told the wine waiter I just wanted a beer, he snapped his fingers and a beer steward arrived.

The portly sommelier recommened Peroni Gran Reserva with my clams. It’s an excellent brew, with lots of flowery flavours coming out of a sweet, strong malty base, a sort of sophisticated bitter-style lager.

  4. I love Gran Reserva, it is one of my favourite lagers. Packs a punch as well.
