Another rumour
The SD blog always loves a rumour, now they’ve been flying round about the Ship Inn, Haskayne.
This is the most promising, most improved pub of the year. Why are certain people trying to put it down with false rumours?
Anyone know the truth?

I heard a rumour the tenents have packed up and fled!!!!
Wont know if true, as not been to Ship for a while..

A must for the weekend, a visit to the ship…. i had heard the level of food had gone down,,,ie….now serving frozen meals warmed up, with frozen chips, not real chips as in the past……But without a visit one cant comment, so roll out the red carpet, i will be dining at the ship at the weekend…

Looks like its going to be a good thread, Lets hope it can move on a bit, and get more and more involved. I myself have not been to the Ship since early June, Didt like the food, so not returned….So come everyone lets get typing.

Why oh why are all these sad people set on getting the ship a bad name….why dont you all get a life !!
The ship serves good value for money food and the new landlady is doing her best to provide a good pub in a lovely setting. With so many pubs closing by the day…you would think these saddo’s would give these relitively new people a chance to make a go of it.
Find a hobby ….get a life….go horseriding or do some knitting ..anything….that occupies your time, instead of being nasty and rude about a new business trying its best to make a go of it.

WHAT TIME DO THEY STOP SERVING FOOD…ON AFTERNOONS FRIDAY MIGHT DROP IN 8 ISH , AND SEE WHAT ALL THE FUSS IS ABOUT, DOES THE PUB STILL GET A LOT OF CANAL-BOATS CALLING , ALWAYS REMEMBER 3-4 MOWERED UP ALONG SIDE AND 20-30 PEOPLE ALL EATING THERE, DOES THE RESTARANT STILL GET PACKED OUT.

Let me tell u that the ship has been in the best shape for ages, good cheap wholesome food hand prepared as ive seen it myself, the place is spotless and with a specials board of 2 meals for a tenner you cant go wrong. The toilets are spotless and the whole place has a new air about it, something that the previous to landlords certainly didnt bring!!!
I eat in there there twice a week and drink there on a regular basis, Paul and Stacey are both pleasant and professional, I think that these rumours are titallf unfounded and probably come from an ex employee or a jealous landlord.
As people say the proof of the pudding is in the eating, the Ship is back with avengence and I wouldnt hesitate to tell anyone to go there.If u think that seeing is believing go there have a beer have a bite to eat and I can guarantee you will visit again and again, ive drank and ate in there for 20 years and love the place.

??? Are we using the same toilet??? Was there on sunday, went to gents, nearly spewed up me sunday lunch!!!! Seen cleaner and fresher toilets in Greece or Turkey, Not knocking the beer nor the food, but Clean toilets , you having a laugh…..

HI ALL, just read some of the coments, what gets me , what are the rumours, is the southport drinker going to reveal all, or are we all going to be keep in the dark.

6 of us went there Saturday before last. Those of us that ordered steak were very disappointed with our “8 oz” portions that were really just small, thin 4 oz bits that would have been on the barbecue.
In fairness though, the beer was good. Overall 2/10 for food, 9/10 for beer, 5/10 for ambience.

Read the comments, But what are the rumours? the Southport Drinker started it, why has he not said what they are,,,,Did he get in touch with the pub, has any one met him/her??, What will the outcome be?? I will defo visit at weekend, see what the fuss is, Has this blog imrove trade, or harmed trade?

It’s dull when someone with the same IP address tries to cause trouble. No I haven’t rang the ship yet as I am half pissed in the masons.
I wrote a good review of the ship on this blog and my opinion hasn’t changed. Please, everyone who likes good beer go to the Ship.
As for the rumours I will NOT say what they are because they have been proved FALSE. Why would I slander a pub that I like? Why would I repeat rumours I know are false?

me and my wife had a meal at the weekend the meal was quite good but the language coming from the kitchen was awfull,tinny music was blasting out and young lads who bearly looked old enough to be in a pub were stomping in and out the kitchen.i would go again but wouldn,t sit on table 16 again

Southportdrinker, have you contacted the owners of The Ship two weeks after your “rumour revelations” ? I would have thought it sensible to make some enquiries into said rumours before posting. People taking on pubs. when dozens close for good every day need to be supported. The new owners of The Ship have only had a few months to settle in, and I’m sure we will see improvements in the months to come. If we want everything to be run by the Tesco’s of this world and drink cheap chemical fizzy dross then slam pubs for trying to make a go of things. If, however, you prefer three/four excellent cask ales that change on a regular basis then pay a visit to The Ship.

I Had a meal at the ship inn..And the salad was a bit warmy and not crisp….After I left the dreary pieces of whatever was in the salad, This woman came out of the kitchen,looked like the chef,
She had NO hat on or cap or whatever chefs are supposed to wear….And dangling from this greasy forehead was this GREY UNCOVERED, UNLOOKED AFTER MASS OF WIRE WOOL HAIR….PUT ME RIGHT OFF WHAT I HAD JUST ATTEMPTED TO PLACE IN MY MOUTH…{ Glad i didnt eat that S***}..HYGIENE..Have you heard of it Ship Inn….Beer Was Good Though..

omg! went in to THE SMTHYBRIDGE tonight for the first time in 12 months just a few questions???? why did you take the darts board, all the cork screws and toilet roles?????? lets just say we are happy locals and good lUCK at your new venture and by the way mandy was in tonight ……god she lights up the room it was fabulous seeing her!
