I've heard that Prospect has expansion plans and is looking at installing more equipment at the existing site; from what I saw on TV that garage already looked pretty full, so not sure what that entails.

For me though Prospect beers seem to be losing some of their consistency - in particular I have noticed Silver Tally now often lacks body and appears nothing special; perhaps it's a case of too much to soon, a problem a lot of growing busineess's have, but I'm sure they will get it right again. Maybe something to do with other parties brewing the beer and not maintaining the same standards.

for me thsts fine as bank top is a good independent local brewery ... It would be qestionanke if they gave it to a big brewer like inbev or even someone like thwaites but somone who is a mate and down the road and committed to local cask is fine in my book. why would there be a problem at the pump?

Silver Tally - good pint, although sometimes I find it lacks body - it's always on at Prospect's Brewery Tap - The Crown at Worthington, Wigan. I drink there regularly and Prospect Brewery in Standish is just down the road from my home. The Crown also has on a fairly regular basis Dark Star beers from Brighton; a great brewery and their Hophead is fabulous - got to be one of the best beers in the U.K.

As for Prospect and the comment above re a Bolton Brewery it's fairly common knowledge in The Crown that Bank Top Brewery in Bolton is currently brewing Prospect's beers for them as Prospect cope with demand. Not quite sure about the ethics of this and the originality of the beers therefore but fair play for taking advantage of recent publicity.

Agree Bright Blade is cracking when on form; haven't seen it much though lately though believe they are currently brewing it again as it has gone to the GBBF.

Also Nutty Slack and Silver Tally, from Prospect again both good brews. I've heard though that a certain (Bolton Brewery) is brewing for Prospect to their recipes at the present time whilst Prospect keep up with demand following the TV programme. Sort of brewed under licence; has anyone else heard this to confirm or otherwise.

I love Silver Tally! That's another one with a good twang of lemon flavour on it. As someone who prefers to do their drinking in the afternoon, I appreciate lighter beers to start with

My favourite Allgates (out of those I've tasted) is Brightblade, which I believe is now seasonal only.

A Wigan microbrewery that is threatening to put Allgates in the shade ~ just my opinion of course ~ is Prospect. Nutty Slack is a beautiful mild, and I'm not a mild drinker, and Silver Tally is a lovely very light 3.7% beer, and I don't usually drink beer below 4 or [preferably] 4.5%. If Prospect can get me to drink outside my comfort zone, then they must be doing something right. Worth trying if spotted.
