Cain’s on brink of closure
Cain’s Brewery of Liverpool could close, reports the BBC.
The news, which is a dagger in the heart to its many fans and the 1,000+ workforce, follows notices in the local and national press that (general downtown aside) they were one of the fastest growing breweries in the country with a £30m annual turnover.
However, according to the brewer’s website this morning, Cain’s lost £4.5m last year following a £2.7m loss the year before.
As HM Revenue and Customs attempt to close the brewery down, Chief Executive Sudarghara Dusanj has appealed to the banks to help rescue the iconic Scouse ale.
For Cliff’s sake something must be done. If Liverpool loses Cain’s it will be a huge blow to the city. Non Liverpudlians reading this can have no idea what a disaster this would be. Drink Cain’s, save Cain’s!

It has got worse I’m afraid, but hopefully the outcome will be favourable. See my blog.
