Alcohol may be banned on buses

Merseytravel are going down the crazy route of a booze ban on buses. Following London’s lead they want to prohibit travelling with an “open” drinks container – everything from a bottle of Lambrini to a gentleman’s hip flask.

It will force the poor bus drivers into confrontations they don’t want or need with people who may be very attached to their drink. Failure to act will leave them open to snitches and the sack.

Meanwhile, don’t Merseytravel realise that someone drinking on a bus or train is not going to cause trouble. They are occupied enjoying their drink. It is only when they are denied drink or alcohol is confiscated from them that drinkers become tetchy.

Instead of banning booze, let’s have drinks carts or buffet bars on all trains. Think outside the box for once.

  1. I would like to send you, my true story, SERIOUS though it is, and without a happy ending. My late husband & I basically allowed Alcohol to destroy our health, after 20 yrs of drinking with friends, family, work mates etc.
Let me know if I may send to you.
    Many thanks.
    Sheila
