First Southport Drinker award

Editor of the Champion Newspaper presents the Southport Drinker annual Lambrini award to drinker John Morris
Everyone on the Southport drinking scene will recognise John Morris.
- A beer drinker, entertainer, shoulder to cry on and driver of the coolest mobility scooter this side of Gotham City, he is a regular contributor to this blog.
I’ve decided to make an annual award to someone in the Merseyside and West Lancs area for services to boozing. John was the choice for the inaugural award because of his tireless support of pubs in the Southport area.
A trophy would be all well and good but, as any fule no, drinking folk would much rather have hooch than silverware any day.
So what better than that old bottle of Lambrini that was left over from a recent party that ended in pie-eyed disgrace and all booze gone bar the bottle of knicker-dropper?
John was overwhelmed by the honour, as you can see from our picture. The momentous occasion was captured by photographer Patrick Trollope.

My obvious “delight” was tempered by the fact that the tight wad bought me an excellent pint of Abbot Ale in the Bold Hotel on Lord Street. The Abbot is probably 80% dearer than the undrinkable wine? As for being a journalist he should ‘no’ I suffer ‘fules’ badly. Warned you. No more info (that’s short for information) from me. As I worked for the higher class Southport newspaper all comments will in future be addressed to SouthportGB.com

Eh? Wha’ did I do wrong? Besides, Rodwell wouldn’t give you the steam off his piss.

If you had told me it was a joke I would have gone along with it. All you journalists want is sensialialism. Why not stick to facts instead of politics. Really upset by your comments.

It wasn’t a joke. Where’s the joke? And what is sensialiaism?
