Southport wine fest
The first Southport Wine Fest is on Tuesday and Wednesday (July 1-2).
The event, which takes place at the Floral Hall, on the Promenade, Southport, from lunchtime to late, will feature over 200 wines and various other food and drink stalls. It is being organised by the excellent Portland Wine Cellars, of Portland Street, Southport. All profits will go to charity.
For £15 admission, which includes a free Fair Trade six-bottle jute bag and guide booklet, you can have a good taste of wines and spirits from all over the world at no cost, with the opportunity to buy by the bottle or case at cut-prices.
Organiser David Smith said: “There won’t be the big brands, it is the smaller wine sellers, mostly independents. This is a chance for people to get away from choosing their drinks by big brand names and see what the world of wine has to offer.”
Tickets for the event, which takes place on Tuesday and Wednesday July 1-2 (noon-6.30pm) are available from the Southport Theatre on 01704 500036, Portland Wine Cellars or from the Champion Newspaper’s offices on Lord Street.
