Don’t buy Gazza a drink – updated
There comes a time when every great drinker must consider putting away his cocktail shaker and making peace with the world.
It looks as if that time has come for Paul Gascoigne, who’s sister Anna has appeared in the Daily Mail begging fans not to buy him any more booze.
The last straw for Anna was when Gazza had to be strapped to a wheelchair for his own safety after a session in London at the weekend. Quite possibly he was heading for the Circle Line booze party but was intercepted before joining the fun.
Gazza – allegations of cruelty to his wife aside – was a sublime soccer talent, one of the most entertaining players I saw in action. He was drinking during his heyday, so spare us any “booze destroyed his career” nonsense. A series of injuries did that.
He’s been drinking for all of us, let the man dry out.
UPDATE: Paul Gascoigne has been sectioned under the Mental Health Act after car-jacking a passer-by and forcing him to take him to an off-licence to buy booze. The Telegraph has the story HERE.

How sad. He never played for Man City but he lived the life of one who did. Madness becomes us all eventually.
