Rabbit’s gone for now

The Rabbit pub has closed its doors but there are hopes it could reopen in a couple of weeks.

Licensee Andrew Lancaster did his best to run a community style local but faced a mounting tide of debt and frustration over red tape. He is leaving the area to start a “new life”.

Rumour has it that a new landlord is ready to take over the pub but that the keys to the Manchester Street boozer won’t be handed over for at least three weeks. Let’s hope the new boss can keep up the good beer and good cheer at a pub that vastly improved under Andrew’s stewardship.
