Obviously my palate has changed dramatically from the time when I drank in the Higsons pub by the Atlas cinema in Walton. The bitter on now at the Barons rips the sides of my tongue away and reminds me of why we could only drink about four pints before you know what. Nothing wrong with it at all, but after tasting the Ind Coope Burton it was a bit of a shock. Of course, when it was served at not far off room temperature, the alpha acid was more predominant and they really were true 'bitters'. I wonder if anyone will recreate Bents, Walkers or Threllies?
