Glass War

A campaign to break up the power of the pubcos has been launched.

It’s the usual motley collection of Lib Dem MPs with the twist that there’s a “wealthy benefactor” backing the whole thing, which makes it suspect to say the least.

I’d prefer more of a direct action campaign, throwing eggs at pubco bosses, storming AGMs,  rousing rabble for a rummy revolution.

This gets me to thinking that there needs to be a new front launched in the defence of our pints and pubs. Camra has done well, but now that we are in the midst of a war against drinking, Camra’s polite campaigns and mixed messages are looking tired.

Is it time for drinkers to form an extremist wing, a Real CamRA?

I’m going to get the disapproval of the likes of Stonch, but maybe there’s other Glass War anarchists out there spoiling for a fight, too.

Could May 1, 2008, be the beginning of the end for greedy pub bosses? Was this the day when the worm turned?

  1. If the mussus says its okay

  2. Interesting idea but as most CAMRA members are over 50 I don’t think they will be up for it. Perhaps there is scope for some sort of protest that doesn’t involve intimidation or picket lines as it is usually peaceful protests that get results better than fighting.

  3. It is time that we all realised the PubCo’s are the real enemy here. Money sucking leeches who are ruining the British pub with mountains of debt and avaricious policies to those who have the misfortune to run them. I could go on……

  4. CAMRA is in the best position to bring about change and any sort of protest would be counter-productive. The pubcos may abandon real ale if they feel threatened. We have to work with them not against them.

  5. This is a stupid and irresponsible post, stick to real issues

  6. [...] I’m still a Siran Siran party of one fighting the Glass War class war, but if the johnny’s word is true then the fair pint lot could be worth supporting [...]

  7. How goes the revolution?
