Westie’s shoots into town
Westie’s Bar opens on Union Street, Southport, this Saturday.
Taking over the old Mulligan’s, the refurbished bar will cater for sports fans with big screen TVs, food and cold beers.
New owner Paul West, who up until last month ran the Herald pub on Portland Street with wife Yvonne, said: “It’s going to be an upclass bar, a completely different Mulligans, new all the way through.”
Paul added that he was “thinking” about cask beer but that there was a shortage of cellar space.

There are top feed cask ales which are stackable but don’t think this place will revert from it’s previous disco/karaoke days and bet a pound to a penny Nigel, (the previous owner), will be DJing. Good luck Paul and Yvonne.
As I said situation normal. Nigel doing what he does best, DJ – keg ales and no promises of cask from Paul – 3.00 am licence, so at least somewhere to go if you can’t sleep. Mulligans was always where many people went when the pubs closed and I’m sure Westies will take over that role. Someone is bound to report on the food so will await their comments.
