Cops can’t stop the Pickle
The Dil Pickle lived up to its speakeasy roots after being closed down by the police before smartly opening again.
Plod ordered drinkers out of the Cable Street pub on Thursday night after acting on a tip-off that licensing documents had not been filled in correctly.
New managers Jane Cooper and brother-in-law Alan Turner had to travel to Bootle this morning to fill in a missing signature before re-opening at lunchtime today.
They’ve also made good on their pledge to serve real ale with Southport Brewery’s Natterjack on tonight. The much-loved Golden Sands will be ready to serve tomorrow or Sunday.
Furthermore, The Southport Drinker understands that Camra have paid a visit, giving the beer a four out of five for quality.
The bar was full tonight with a 50th birthday party in full swing.
“It’s been an eventful day,” said Jane. “But things have gone really well since we’ve opened.”
