You can read my initial thoughts about the new Phoenix pub here, but one thing I left out was the welcome cheapness of the drinks. All real ales are £1.75, Carling lager £1.95. If only they’d stick with Brains SA and get rid of the dull Bombardier.
Meanwhile, the growing list of local beer and wine festivals includes the upcoming 18-day Wetherspoons & Lloyds beer festival, which announced today that they will be selling real ale at £1.49 a pint.
Agree entirely. Nicely fitted out with service that puts Wetherspoons to shame. In fact last night there were at least three Wetherspoons staff eating there! Trepidation over prices was not necessary and are certainly giving vfm. Think the Deuchars is washed out now in Southport and I too would welcome at least rotation on one pump of guest ales. Come on Tim Martin, look over the road and compare it with your drab and dreary establishment.
