Finally someone from the Daily Telegraph sobers up enough to write a piece poo-pooing all the binge-drinking rubbish the paper has been spewing out over the past few weeks.

Meanwhile, even the Daily Mail, after a ’raid’ on a supermarket in Chorley, has been forced to admit that top plod Ken Jones’s accusation that supermarkets are selling booze cheaper than water is false. Even the most awful PET-bottled cooking mild is dearer pint-for-pint.

Still, we get useful idiots like Camra’s Mike Benner, who called cheap supermarket booze deals “reckless, irresponsible and dangerous”.

Mike will regret those words when all drink is taxed to the hilt, even his beloved pints of Twots. Meanwhile, has Mike never thrown a barbecue and cheered that he was able to buy a load of Carlsberg for next to nothing?

That’s the trouble with Camra, they never think things through.

And why does no one think to ask why water is so expensive?
