Folkies at White Lion
To celebrate Community Pubs Week, Odd at Ease, a folk-rock group based in Southport, will be playing at the White Lion, Upholland on Wednesday 20 February.
The band is kicking off the week playing at the sold out CAMRA Liverpool Beer Festival and will be running regular open mic nights at the Lion from March 3rd.
Now in its second year, Community Pubs Week (Saturday 16th to Saturday 23rd February ) was started by CAMRA to help raise the profile and importance of pubs in the community and encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to use the amenity of community pubs more.
CAMRA’s Owen Morris said: “It is fantastic that the White Lion is lending its support to community pubs week. The heart is being ripped from communities across the UK as local shops and post offices are forced to close. Now more than ever it is important to preserve the local pub and popping in for a drink during Community Pubs Week is a terrific start.

Folk-rock, now you are talking. Folk music starting at my hostelry of choice but I suspect it will be a little more subdued. Going to see the Oysterband in a few weeks time, but knowing where the gig is, I just know the beer will not be real.

Hope you enjoy the Oysterband – I thought they were playing in Southport this weekend? If it’s the folkport gig you’re talking about, I think the Southport brewery are going to do a real ale bar

Hi Paul
Hope you caught us at The White Lion last week – if not, we’ve been asked back.
Odd At Ease have not been and never will be subdued – we’ve always tried to play folk /roots/acoustic music with a driving beat !
If you missed us hope to see you next time.
